LASER SURGERY NOW AVAILABLE FOR JEWELRY


Paul Beatty Jewelers recently purchased a new laser welder for repairing and manufacturing jewelry. Dave Beatty explains that recent advances in laser technology enables jewelers to restore and repair vintage jewelry, create new modern jewelry and safely work on heat sensitive pieces with the new Laserstar workstation. This past September, Dave flew himself and Beatty's bench jeweler Ron Voris to Providence, Rhode Island for factory training. The training utilizes instructors who actually work in the jewelry industry and can share practical applications for this relatively new technology. There are many benefits to working with the Laserstar welder including lower labor costs, no discoloration of metal and invisible seams. Unlike soldering, laser welding is faster, cleaner and more cost effective for many manufacturing and repair problems. Ron says the majority of repairs he used to do with the torch, he now performs with the laser. The Laserstar is our newest and most used piece of equipment and we continue to find new uses for it on a daily basis.
